No, Seed, I don't follow every link. I do follow a lot of them, though, because people here post some good ones (and I usually make the links clickable if I follow them).
I have mixed feelings about the posting of lyrics in threads if they're already in the database. If somebody has requested a song that's already available online, then they sure as hell ought to be able to follow a link or do a search after getting instructions, and there should be no need to post lyrics. If there's a discussion of a song within a thread, then I think it's handy to have the lyrics handy right there in the thread. Although Dick is most vociferous in protesting the posting of lyrics from the database, I have seen him do it a time or two himself, when it serves to illustrate a discussion. That makes sense, and Dick is blessed with common sense.
Now, what really irks me is the recent practice of starting several threads on a topic - one for the lyrics request, one for the "add lyrics," and then sometimes one other for the tune or reasons I can't fathom. Then you get one person posting lyrics in a new thread, and another posting lyrics in the request thread, and a discussion split between two threads. The idea of the "add lyrics" threads, I thought, was to set up a new thread for a new song somebody wanted to share - a song that had not been requested. I don't know who came up with the cockamamie idea that you were supposed to reply to a song request with a new thread, but you see that silly practice every day lately.
