My friend clamed his uncle was the original writer of the lyrics but not the tune, the original lyrics I have heard are "we wish I happy birthday a joyous and celebrated birthday to our dear someone may you have a long long life" we are from a small town in Vermont and the only reason I was searching this was to legitimize his claims.
