Always get an assistant to remove the security tag
And remind the trainee assistant after you are being jocular. And make sure the senior employee who stops you at the exit is fully aware that the trainee was not at fault and is doing a grand job when not being made to laugh.

Trying to make trainees at ease is a sport of mine, but it probably needs work! I remember my first days at work, there is so much to take in!
