I heard, or read, on either a Paul Metzers or Steve Turner album that the outside track is what the Australian indiginous peoples refered to the 'afterlife' as. A sort of constant 'walkabout' with 'no worries' to coin a couple of other Aussie phrases.

"Their spirits shall live on the outside track, as long as the years go by" sort of makes sense if this is true.
