Thread Name: Ned Corvan musical play in Hartlepool
Subject: Ned Corvan musical play in Hartlepool
The life and songs of music-hall artist Ned Corvan will be celebrated in a brand new musical play which is coming to Hartlepool Town Hall on June 6th.

'Mr Corvan's Music Hall' celebrates the life and songs of Edward 'Ned' Corvan - probably the North East's first music hall superstar. A comedian, singer, songwriter, artist and virtuoso violinist, Corvan lived and worked in Hartlepool throughout his short career, and it's fair to say that his song 'The Fishermen Hung the Monkey, O!' had a *huge* impact on local folklore!

Written by Ed Waugh and featuring arrangements by Johnny Handle and Benny Graham, the cast includes fiddler/singer Rachael McShane, late of Bellowhead and the recent tour of Peter Bellamy's 'The Transports'. More details (including a bunch of recordings of other Ned Corvan songs by Johnny Handle, among others) can be found HERE

Tickets for the Town Hall performance are £15 and can be booked on 01429 523409.

Thanks!
