I have just seen this post, and although it is way past your birthday Rosie, I would just like to wish you,all the very best that life has to offer, now and always.
I first saw you sing at the "Red Lion" pub in Westhoughton, on a Friday folk night. I had come to watch the Houghton Weavers perform, as I had long been a fan of theirs, and knew Tony Berry as a personal friend (his mum and mine were good friends, and he later went on to marry my friend Gill.)
It was a busy night, and the pub was packed and noisy. Everyone was used to seeing good folk acts of the day, so no one turned a hair when you came on to sing.....that is until you opened your mouth!! You could have heard a pin drop, and from those first few notes of pure magic, we were all transfixed and under your spell. What a voice! We asked for encore after encore, and would not let you go. I will NEVER forget that night, and even at 64 years old, I still treasure the memory.
You have a God given gift Rosie. Thankyou for sharing it with us all, you have given us memories to treasure. May I wish you health and happiness, now and always. God Bless you, special lady. Love Christine x
