It's probably dumb to try and take a (full sized acoustic) guitar on a commercial airplane at all, unless:

a) It's so cheap that you don't care what happens to it, or

b) It's so expensive that you can justify a Calton or equivalent case for it.

Unfortunately, a low-end Martin falls between those extremes.

In your situation, I'd take it with me, but ship it, not transport it on the plane.
