Subject: ADDPOP: Heart and Soul (Loesser, Carmichael)
I gotta say, I've always been a fan of Frank Loesser, especially when he was teamed with Hoagy Carmichael. Wikipedia (click) has an interesting article on the song, and how its
easy I-vi-IV-V progression made it a piano-duet competitor for "Chopsticks."

The song came out in 1938, and three versions charted in 1939. I imagine I first heard the song on the 1952 recording by The Four Aces.

HEART AND SOUL
(Frank Loesser & Hoagy Carmichael)

Heart and soul, I fell in love with you
Heart and soul, the way a fool would do
Madly...
Because you held me tight
And stole a kiss in the night...
Heart and soul, I begged to be adored
Lost control, and tumbled overboard
Gladly...
That magic night we kissed
There in the moon mist
Oh! but your lips were thrilling, much too thrilling
Never before were mine so strangely willing
But now I see, what one embrace can do
Look at me, it's got me loving you
Madly...
That little kiss you stole
Held all my heart and soul

Keberoxu, just for you, here's a link to "Play That Song" by Train: ...and if you don't like that one, I suppose there's not much chance you'll like Train's "Hey Soul Sister": I got exposed to a number of younger performers while I was working on the Rise Again Songbook. After awhile, I found that I didn't mind them as much as I expected to.
