Subject: RE: Request for Irish music recommendations
Hi Amy - some recordings of the best traditional Irish musicians playing in the 1970s were made by the Belfast "Outlet" label. By means not known to me, several of what were LP records at the time, and can only usually be found on "eBay" these days, usually at inflated prices, can now be downloaded through "iTunes" for £3.99 sterling. Certainly some of the Outlet recordings by Seamus Tansey [ flute ], Finbarr Dwyer [ accordion ], Tom McHaile [ whistle ], Sean Ryan Trio [ fiddle, accordion, piano ], "Na Fili" [ fiddle, whistle, uilleann pipes and songs ], Sean McGuire [ fiddle ], Ted Furey [ fiddle ], Kevin Loughlin [ accordion ] and several more are available.
My favourite flute album ever was one of the last Outlet recordings. "Bad Turns And Horseshoe Bends", by Harry Bradley from Belfast is £3.99. If you ever only own 1 flute album of Irish music, this has to be it. Give it a listen, please.
Best of luck. Kenny
