Subject: The Volunteer Sessions, Sidmouth
Contrary to rumour, the Volunteer Inn is open and ready for business during Sidmouth FolkWeek. There was some concern following its temporary closure related to the late landlord Steve Lea's estate.
Punch Taverns have now installed a new landlord Ron Miles, who was formerly landlord at the Balfour Inn and is known to be music-friendly. I am grateful to Barry Lister and Roger Grimes who have each checked the situation and have reported back. Alan Bearman is aware of the situation.
I am pleased to say that the highly successful series of 'In the Tradition' lunchtime sessions with its unique format inc singers invited from the formal programme will continue as before, much as it has done so since 1988. This is not a singaround, and anyone wishing to perform should introduce themselves to myself or my co-host at the start of proceedings as it is difficult (if impossible) to fit everyone in before the 2.30 p.m. finish.
I look forward to meeting once again all our regulars and, perhaps, anyone who wishes to give it a try.
