Thread Name: Lyr Req: This Is Not Love (The Killjoys)
Subject: Lyr Add: THIS IS NOT LOVE (The Killjoys)
This seems to be punk rock. (I pay so little attention to this genre that I'm not even sure I know what to call it when I hear it.) But I must admit, I found the words strangely moving. This is my attempt at a transcription from the recording. There are some gaps and some uncertainties.

THIS IS NOT LOVE
Written by S. Berrington
As recorded by The Killjoys, 1982.

I'm gonna talk though there's no reason why you should listen.
Every word I say is forgotten as soon as it's said.
All the world's a stage now; nobody knows what the play is.
It's the … our minds.

CHORUS: I never thought I'd hear myself say: "This is not love."
I never thought I'd have to tell you: "This is not love."
I never thought that it would come to: "This is not love."
To the(?) "This is not love; this is desperation.
This is desperation."

We spent a lifetime trying to create a world of our own.
Somewhere we could feel safe and sure of being happy.
We never stopped to wonder where these ideas come from.
If we ever did, would we ever get anything done?

CHORUS

Well, I know that I'm not your dream, and you know that you're not mine,
But dreams are only the sugar to take away the taste of time,
And I know you don't want me, and you know I don't want you,
But in a world that's ready to bury the weak, we can …(?) just like any fruit(?).
…(?) you couldn't survive, never …(?) fears(?)
And in the end you don't really care who it is wiping away the tears.

CHORUS
