Guy over in Nevada back in the 1880s hired an old Dutchman to dig postholes. The old fella did it with one of those railroad pinch bars, jamming it into the ground and working it to make the hole. He kept the line as straight as a surveyor's layout, too. On his first day he asked how far to do postholes and was told to keep going until the rancher came to get him.

Around noon the rancher had a heart attack and died. And ever today riders say that you can see the old Dutchman, his pinch bar now about a foot long, digging his postholes and if asked he just says, "Dey come and git me soon."
