Thread Name: BS: We have a Lady Doctor! [Dr. Who]
Subject: RE: BS: We have a Lady Doctor! [Dr. Who]
I have friends here in the UK who are very much against the idea of a woman as the Doctor, simply because she is a woman - but not because they are sexist. They actually aren't, but they say it will change the energy too much. I don't think I agree with them there.

We won't get to see Jodie Whittaker do her stuff until the Christmas Special, but I am open to any possibilities. Remembering that every time the Doctor regenerates, it brings a new energy, and I was often disappointed thinking we'd lose whichever one I was used to, and then surprised to find how quickly I got used to the new Doctor, often loving him even more than the last one.

Not so long ago I was very sceptical when I saw that Peter Capaldi was to be the next Doctor, having only been familiar with him as a very nasty Cardinal Richelieu in The Musketeers. On the very first of his episodes, I was so impressed that I instantly accepted him - he WAS the Doctor. He totally owned the role. It's called Good Acting. So if Miss Whittaker is as good an actor as I suspect she is, I would not be at all surprised to find I accept her very quickly as the new Doctor, and the new energy she brings.
