That last verse is a floating one. I have heard it attached to "Woody Knows Nothing".

I just tried Google to see if there was a restaurant where I could have possum & sweetpotato. What do I see? A pretentious one in Richmond, VA, called L'Opossum -- and opossum is not on the menu! Really, there ought to be a restaurant featuring all the dishes celebrated in song. (I just missed an opportunity to have groundhog, once upon a time.)

Gnu & Murray, if you are still around: Possum is not a noun in Latin; it is a verb, and means "I can". I have toyed with the idea of having a T-shirt made with a picture of an opossum & the legend "Haberi Possum" (i.e., "I Can Be Had").
