Without wishing to contradict what you say, I should like to see the evidence that alcoholism is in any way hereditary.

Apart from Jeri's link above, I would like to point out that there is a difference between 'hereditary' and 'genetic'.

As an alcoholic parent is likely to inculcate a similar attitude in their children, I believe there can be a hereditary link.
