Thread Name: BS: 5.628 million people flooded out
Subject: RE: BS: 5.628 million people flooded out
"cities that build near or below sea level are at risk from rising temperatures/seas."
They are also at risk from storm surges and tsunamis. Hull subjected to storm surges in 1953 and 2013 for example. Or the Severn estuary inundation of 1607. Had the flooding occurred on this scale when all three reactors were operational(Hinkley,Berkley, Oldbury) along the Severn and it's estuary the outcome could have been messy. In the 90's the seismic hazard group were aware of the risk but I have no idea how seriously it was pursued at that point. In Lincolnshire two refineries are close by Immingham Docks, all three sites are at risk of flooding.
These sort of risks repeat all around coastal areas wordlwide, both people and infrastructure are increasingly vulnerable. In a warmer world storms intensify
