We've always had left hand threads

Oh give Ake a break - it was funny.

I remember being confused when told in a dance the people moved round the room clockwise

depends on the dance "Circle Waltz" (eg) the progression is anti-clock. "Chapelloise" we start off anti-clock then dance backwards and return with a mirror manoeuvre*, but the "women"** progress clock. "Old Swan Gallop" the progression depends on which number you are. IMNSHO clockwise refers to "as seen from above" because you can imagine being on the balcony looking down, ie "implied". But unless there is a glass floor and a basement it can't easily be imagined from below. You would get far less women to events on a glass floor methinks.

*French dance, English English spelling.

**blokettes welcome but do try to dance backwards and in high heels.
