Identity Politics

Its a quaint term robomatic but its not entirely what's going on.

Yes we have different media cater to each fringe.
So what really makes politics and elections so fringey?
It is NOT Identity politics.

It is the closed primary SYSTEM. In that method only the strongest fringe wins in each Rep or Dem primary.
If we had open primaries the whole and the center gets mixed enough by both sides so we do not end up with only extremist candidates.
We could have more Democracy and less partisanship this way.
