Thread Name: Singarounds Required - Liverpool (UK)
Subject: Singarounds Required - Liverpool (UK)
This is a direct result of Wigan Folk Club's recent successful change of Tuesday venue to the Royal Oak in Wigan Lane. Gerry, the landlord, is Irish, loves the music and the craic, and is more than pleased to have, in his own words, "the busiest pub in Wigan on a Tuesday night" (it has been standing room only for those arriving after 9.30pm). He demonstrates his pleasure by giving us discounts on all drinks and passing around generous plates of sandwiches.
Now apparently his brother and several friends have pubs in Liverpool, and he has passed the word on about the great nights the folk club has been having - resulting in his brother and friends wanting something similar in their pubs. I don't have the names of the pubs involved, but if anyone is interested (or knows anyone else who may be interested) in organising singarounds in the Liverpool area, bearing in mind that these people are positively wanting the music (not to mention the increased business...), please get in touch either with Gerry on 01942 323137 or myself on 01942 321223. Or pay the Royal Oak a visit on a Tuesday night to see what all the fuss is about.
