Thread Name: How Many Guitars...Is Enough??
Subject: RE: How Many Guitars...Is Enough??
I did at one point have three acoustic guitars. But I've now only got one. Recording King ROS616 (all-solid mahogany 12 frets to body, wide nut spacing). Sounds great, and really good ergonomically for fingerstyle playing. The other two guitars I had just didn't sound anywhere near as good, so there was simply no point having them.

I occasionally try out various guitars in guitar shops but never find any I like as much, either for sound or playability. That includes luthier-made guitars that other guitarists get all orgasmic over.

I don't get it actually, I've played Lowdens, all sorts, and they've all pretty much left me cold. I like the sound of "blues boxes", medium-small body guitars. I've always preferred mahogany and spruce to rosewood.

If money were no object, I'd like to own a Maccaferri-style D-hole gypsy jazz guitar. I like their sound and playability. I've also got a lot of curiosity for some of the wide-nut cheap Harley Benton guitars that Thomann sell (some of which have a 48mm nut, which is right up my street). But really, all I "need" is another one of the Recording King guitars I already have, in case it ever gets smashed or something.

Martin Carthy has two guitars; that's all. If it's good enough for him...
