Yea, sure, Martin Guitars reputedly did that with loudspeakers, but ask any guitar buyer - they vary considerably. And the Stradavarius museum in Italy play all their intstruments regularly, presumably in rotation.

I find listening to Radio4 on long wave distinctly muffled and that started when I listened regularly on FM, and now DAB, yet I could hear it clearly before. Another anomaly was when an engineer rang in to tell me he couldn't make it to work and I struggled to place the Black Country accent. The context gave it to me, but when hearing him face to face his turban somehow gave him a distinct Indian accent. How many times have we tried to decipher vocal gibberish, only to get it once we know what is being said? Ladies and Gentlemen - I give you Mondegreens.

Go figure - I have, habituation. And it doesn't prevent me being fooled next time - I know.

The brain/eye/ear/sensory nerves processing is a wonder to behold, and a caution to be carried.

Of course the way an instrument is played, held, and the room are always the same, never evolve as we accommodate? Exactly? Strings?

I know one guy who is forever on a quest for another guitar. Any music shop of worth (eg Exeter during Sidmouth week) get his attention. I joke with him, but he insists the one he drools over is played by a professional musician, who is never going to sell. And who's technique is probably rather special too. For some it is better to travel hopefully than to ..................
But then he has found a way of satiating the urge to experience a roomfull of guitars without being cluttered and burdened. His one guitar is a Martin. And like me, probably, when faced with confusing choices .................. doesn't.
