Thread Name: BS: Nigella Seeds
Subject: RE: BS: Nigella Seeds
My husband searches for rather exotic ingredients on Norwich market, such as okra (which he calls 'gombo') and yams ('en-yams') sweet potatoes and lumps of ginger. Not to mention several weird powders of various startling colours from the Bangladeshi family supermarket. (I once taught their children, who are now parents themselves!)

I on the other hand am quite a good 'traditional' cook. My specialities are pastries and cakes, pies and casseroles, roasts and puddings (very 1950's stuff), none of which, he says, have any taste at all.

I used to enjoy watching Delia Smith. Her cookery books and programmes are based on plain, wholesome traditional food. Boring to many, but right up my street. All one needs is good quality, fresh ingredients.
