I suspect that the first verse was used in the original show: Seven Lively Arts produced by Billy Rose reopened the renovated Ziegfeld Theater on December 7, 1944.

And gillymor, when you have been a Mudcatter for as long as some of us, you'll realise that old threads never die, they get reincarnated regularly like zombies getting back up to party and then slinking away until the next time.
