Now here's what's noteworthy: a lifelong Ray Charles fan who doesn't recognize a recording from the album "Ray Charles and Betty Carter" in the early '60's.
Personally I am just getting acquainted with that album -- I never even heard their chart-climbing interpretation of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" before this year --
but I figured all the Ray Charles lovers knew about that album. It's been reissued from the original masters. Although the album went unavailable for a short time during the technology switches from vinyl to cassette tapes to compact discs to digital, that album is easily purchased online now, in any or all of those formats.
Oh, and "The Parent Trap" didn't use the entire track, in which Ray Charles begins singing the chorus solo, then bows out, and with a change of key, the orchestra backs Betty Carter singing the chorus in turn.
