I've have made a significant change in music direction, or at least in the direction of my music activity. It might be a bit odd to bother posting a thread on the subject, but the issue has some Mudcat impact - so I thought it best to start the thread.I was asked to audition for a band that has been formed to back a Texas-based, up-and-coming Nashville star named Chris Johnson, (a truly fine female vocalist). I auditioned, liked the folks, liked the plan, was offered a position with that band and I accepted. We will begin working together in rehearsal and (demo)recording studios very soon. I expect we'll be working Texas and the Southwest region by Spring. It is our intention to remain Texas-based for the first year, at least.
Sadly, the new position means that I will be giving up the solo and Eammons Kitchen work that I have enjoyed so much over the last year - and that was a difficult decision, but the new position is a very professional organization with excellent industry backing and I am looking forward to the new challenge.'Texas Attitude,' as the band is called, will be making a formal announcement within the next couple of months. Their website will contain information about schedule and events, etc. and I expect I'll post links to that site here when it becomes avaiable.
While I am excited about the new opportunity and things to come, I am heavy hearted about what I leave behind. I feel truly blessed by the Eammon's Kitchen experience, especially the close freindships - and I have been very lucky indeed over the last 18 months or so, to have played Folk and Celtic music at so many places around the US. I take those experiences and friendships with me - and I hope I leave as much behind.
