Apart from moderators choice, I would say the more appropriate description might be:

The subject, in the context of those who have engaged, has run it course.
Or the vituperate of this parish have commandeered the thread which amounts to the same thing to most of us. I would say "You know who you are" but actually, I don't think they do.
