"There is nothing wrong with being the voice for those who did not survive."
I didn't say there was
We are talking about controlled termination of pregnancy fort many reasons - nobody is specifying getting rid of a child because it might not be health - certainly I'm not
Sex has many functions, procreation being only one of them
"you did not ask, my mom survived too."
I did not ask because I have no idea what your personal circumstances are
Ending pregnancy within a restricted period is, as far as I'm concerned is a permissible act on the basis of the information that is privy to us
The same with rape, incest and a threat to the mother's life (in most circumstances)
It's a bit of a a cliché but modern society has decided that a woman has the right to control over her own body - again, up to a point - I've no problem with that
IT is she who has to bear the child and usually, it is she who has to bear the responsibility for it - as a rule, men don't and are usually the ones to walk away from a difficult (or them) relationship
Society, by and large, leaves the burden on the parent - usually the woman
Usually. it is men who pontificate about it and draw up the rules -
In thee case of the churches - the most vociferous and influential groups, it is largely elderly, supposedly celibate men at that.
I'm with Sen 100% on this
My empathy comes from my humanism (with a small "m")
I came from a poor, but caring family environment where we were all loved equally - but we were surrounded by families who weren't that lucky - 'sink' estates tended to be like that, largely because of the fact that they were sited in the most deprived areas
