Has anybody here seen nutrias in California? The state Department of Fish & Wildlife says they have been sighted in Stanislaus, Tuolumne, Merced, and Fresno counties.

I think I recall having nutrias pointed out to me in the Sierra at 5,000 feet, but the Fish & Wildlife seems to indicate they were at lower elevations.

Maybe I'm getting them confused with marmots. Do they have the same general size and appearance?
