In the booklet to 'I wish there was no Prisons' MTCD372, Mike Yates says there is another version on MTCD252 sung by Charlie Showers of Somerset.

There's a song 'Glorious Beer' dated 1895 referred to in Kilgarriff but this is very likely a different song. Kilgarriff has nothing under the usual or obvious possible titles for our song, which again points to a later rather than an earlier song. Until somebody comes up with a 78 or sheet music we're stymied. I'd say 1930s if pushed.
