Thread Name: Lyr Add: Wacky Brown
Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: EDDIE BROWN (camp song)
Well, on the self-titled Brothers Four album, it's called "Sama Kama Wacky Brown," and the songwriters named are Warren/Goehring - I believe the album came out in 1960. I got lyrics out of the songbook of Many Point Scout Reservation, published by Aminal Al Boyce, who has visited us a few times at Mudcat. No date on Al's songbook, unfortunately. I think it's probably a camp song, and the songwriters listed on the Brothers Four album just did an adaptation (but it could also be that all these versions are camp counselor adaptations of a copyrighted song).
I made up a Google Search (click) that will take you to several versions.
Oh, and of course there is a previous Mudcat thread (click) on this song.

EDDIE BROWN

Chorus
G C
Eddie catcha cootcha catcha tosanera tosanoka
D B
sam cama wacky Brown.

C
Fell into the well, fell into the well
D G
fell into the deep, dark well.

C D G C D G
Suzie Brown, milkin' in the barn
C D G C D
saw him fall, and ran inside to tell her mom that...

Suzie's mom, makin' cracklin' bread
laid it down, and ran outside to tell Old Joe that...

Then Old Joe, put his plow aside
grabbed his cane, and hobbled into town to say that...

To the well, everybody came.
What a shame, it took so long to say his name that...

Chorus 2
Eddie catcha cootcha catcha tosa nera tosa noka
sama cama wacky Brown.
Fell into the well, fell into the well
fell into the well ... and drowned.
