We undersell things in this country. i remember looking up the castle in Old Bolingbroke (Old or New Bolingbroke - I can't remember) in Lincolnshire. The castle was in ruins with sheep grazing on it. If the yanks had a castle where a king was born that Shakespeare had written three plays about, there would a theme park there.

As Derek Brimstone was wont to remark - The Yanks really got done at the Alamo, but they still had to sing about it, cos they haven't got much history. If we'd had the Alamo, we'd have tried to forget it.

If I hadn't been looking up Lucy Worsley's dress on Wikipedia, i doubt I would ever have known about Bolsover Castle. Bloody Dennis Skinner wouldn't have mentioned it. Oh by the way, we've got a castle....
