Willie o' Winsbury - everything changes when the king actually meets him:

The king's called up his good swordsmen

For hanged he must be".

But when he came before the king
He was dressed all in the red silk
His hairwas like strands of gold
His skin was white as milk

"It is no wonder," says the king
"That my daughter's love you did win
