If it's early 60's it would be a better bet. Gibson was making a lot of lousy guitars by the late 60's. Of course you're right, playing it will be the test, but if you're using it for bluegrass and planning to spend over $1000 for it, I would recommend looking at alternatives. If you would consider a new guitar, my partner plays a new Taylor which I think cost about $1200 that has a good Martin style sound for a lot less money than the new Martins. I'm a Gibson fanatic myself; If you have time to look around, you might find something a lot nicer than a 60's Dove for similar money.Chet W.
