One thing that I find grates a bit is names of people that conveniently rhyme. For example:

"Well how do you do, young Willie McBride?
Do you mind if I sit here down by your graveside?"

"They say she even married once, a man named Romany Brown,
But even a gypsy caravan was too much settling down."
