They drop to carpets and bury themselves in the pile, like sea creatures escaping a predator into the ooze on the sea floor. On a hard floor, they scoot behind chair legs or the legs of audience members.

I put a bit of hot-pink duct tape on my picks so they aren't camouflaged as well. Nonetheless, they escape, given enough time.
