I've been following this tragic case for some time now, and am appalled at the circus it has become. 'Alfie's Army' is disrupting the entire hospital of Alder Hey and distressing the other patients and their families. Very similar to the Charlie Gard case.

However, I can also understand the utter despair and fierce determination of his poor parents.The picture of his father today was heart-breaking, he looks so thin and haggard, and no wonder.

As in Charlie's predicament, the Pope has got involved and offered 'treatment' in Rome, and has even given Alfie Italian citizenship to enable him to be brought there. But as far as I understand, Alder Hey specialists have emphasised there can be no hope and the child will never survive. His brain is totally irreparable.

They've now removed ventilating intubation and amazingly Alfie is still breathing. But this will apparently not last.

Anyone else disturbed by this sad situation, and by the awful behaviour and ignorance shown by the 'Army'?
