Thread Name: 2018 Obit: Bob Dorough
Subject: Obit: Bob Dorough
Saddened to hear of the passing of Bob Dorough---a jazz pianist, singer, and songwriter who remained active, at the age of 94, up to a few weeks before his death.

I first heard him through the two Chad Mitchell solo albums, where, with the late Stuart Scharf, he did the arrangements.....and on the 2nd album Chad MItchell did two of his songs (Love: Websters Definition, and Without Rhyme Or Reason. He also was involved with Spanky and Our Gang---producing their albums as well and giving them a great 'jazz feel'.

He was also the only singer to ever be recorded with Miles Davis.

He has a number of albums out----none of them big sellers, best on an independent label, although a couple on Bluenote.    And they are all great!

Most people know him for his musical contribution to an animated Children's tv show called "Schoolhouse Rock".

I am trying to learn a number of his tunes----they aren't easy.   One of my favourites: "I've Got Just About Everything".

I'll post it here.
