Bread crates were very popular here for a while about 20/30 years ago, a place that has been taken over by the Sainsburys Basket - a plastic shopping basket that has no holes in it, but a sturdy handle. Seen these in the strangest of places.... mostly at the zoo, used as food carrier and plaything...

The bucket thing though, that's universal. Everywhere you go you can find a 5gallon plastic bucket being used for something totally unlike the label - 5 gall cooking oil buckets used for mixing concrete in, plaster buckets used to keep beer and ice in....

Now that we have the larger 'wheelie bins' there are scores of plastic dustbins out there with alternative lives.....
