Talk about polarised views: Marmite, Eurovision, football teams, and now yes, Royal Weddings.
I have never seen quite so many F, C and A expletives in one day as yesterday on my Facebook Timeline, coming from the Royal-haters, (perhaps I need to choose my friends more carefully) - while at least 40% of Royal Wedding posts were from people who loved it. I'm no prude but the overuse of these words does make me despair sometimes: rather than reinforcing the users' arguments, actually weakens them IMHO and lands them in the gutter.
Ok, I did watch the TV, enjoyed the music and pageantry. It was NOT an official state occasion, therefore NOT all paid for by the taxpayer, as some would have us believe. Some of the security would have been as Johnny suggests, but the Police also had 2 Cup Finals yesterday to look after at public expense.
if we didn't have a monarchy, what would the alternative be? May, Boris, or someone like Trump????
