86th sonnet to my reluctant muse...

Sonnet 19/05/18                         MCLXVI


Clouds hide the moon, but if muse is present
The night would still be bright. From Heaven shims
The glow to dream illuminate: It finds
Words from my heart to place on page, that tell
Of feelings for one I wish only well.
Might I hope that, someday, my verse might speak
To muse’s heart? That I find her unique
Should not be reason to these dreams resent.
Rain gives no tears: I would only regret
If muse wanted the sun. To give her all
That might bring muse’s smile: That is my goal.
Yet, does my longing to please muse upset,
That I should not try to earn smile? Recall
Her smile gives verse: How else can I be whole?
