In the sixth form we had to study several French literary classics, and one was 'Eugénie Grandet' by Balzac.
We were extremely naughty and insisted on pronouncing his name as Ball Sack in order to make the teacher squirm. I can still see the poor chap standing there shouting "It's Balzac! Balzac I tell you!"
He got quite red in the face...
