Be safe and get a Yamaha preferably an old one. They beat most of the so called 'name' instruments. A Yamaha rosewood laminate is better than some badly made solid sides, and the new ARE system puts them well ahead of the competition. Look at a Yammie as raw material. Set it up yourself. Change the nut and bridge to bone, the end pegs to brass the machine heads to Grover's or Schaller's tune up and listen to it sing. Otherwise all you are paying for is the bit on the headstock that says Martin/Taylor/Gibson etc. and nobody really cares about that.
