Thread Name: Chord Req: The Green Among the Gold
Subject: Chords Add: THE GREEN AMONG THE GOLD
Hi Guest,

Here are the chords I use, loosely based on Sean Keane's version. I sing a slightly different chorus melody (see link below).

[G]Dusty [D]plains and [Em]iron chains met [G]Erin's [Bm]sons and [C]daughters
[C]Cast [Bm]upon a [C]barren [G]land, a [C]far-off distant [D]shore.
They [G]dreamed of [D]misty [Em]mountains and their [G]home [Bm]across the [C]water.
They [C]sang of [Bm]Conne[C]mara [G]and the [C]home they'd [D]see no [G]more.

Now limestone walls are all that's left of times of pain and failure.
This country yields the secrets of the beauty that it holds,
And the tunes of Erin's Isle are now the music of Australia,
For [C]Irish [Bm]hands have [C]woven [G]strands of [C]green [D]among the [G]gold.

And [G]so [Em]beneath the [D]southern [C]cross they [G]sang their [Bm]songs of [C]Ireland.
They sent her sons and daughters there in the hungry days of old.
They play their jigs and reels beneath the skies of their new homeland,
For Irish hands have woven strands of green among the gold.
