John M, I agree. I'd be ecstatic if anyone played any of my songs, even if I were making money on them. If they recorded or published them, I'd be hoping for royalties, including radio play royalties. Jerry, you have a very sensible idea about a songwriters' association based on the ideas discussed in this thread.
