was broadcasting around the same time as
the re-make of Battlestar Galactica,
on rival networks.

I noticed how the Battlestar Galactica soundtrack,
which I believe was nominated for awards,
influenced the SGU soundtrack as well:

very different from the symphonic soundtrack for
the Stargate SG-1 series, which also was pleasing to the ear.
