Jim I would suggest you read what I have stated and not react blindly to what you think I have stated(your major, major failing)
Past societies that have outgrown their resource base have collapsed.
What makes you think it will be any different for us. The average westerner subjected to a subsistence lifestyle would fail. Western society has neither the knowledge nor fitness levels to revert to a peasant lifestyle. Even John Seymour needed to write to keep his head above water. We do not need a cull -on our present path it will occur
of its own volition. The more organised a society, the more vulnerable it is. Many events could destroy society. A pandemic would probably starve more that it killed by infection.
Right now we Florence and zeberdee just waiting for the bearings to fail on the magic roundabout.
