I am eternally grateful that our one misguided attempt to grow a patch of bamboo failed. At the time, I didn't know how easily some bamboo varieties can become uncontrollable pests.

So, we don't have bamboo. Instead, we have a bumper crop of Japanese climbing fern, which is only surpassed by kudzu in the hierarchy of invasive nastiness.
