Subject: RE: BS: Female Orgasm Part II: Come Again?
When Vance Randolph was finally allowed to publish a book containing all the bits that had been censored out of his first fifteen or so books ("Pissing in the Snow", 1976), it was seen as an author finally overcoming censorship, etc. But I think it was Sandy Paton who pointed out that, while the stories were now available, they were no longer in the same context they'd have had if all the other books hadn't been censored. That put a different focus on how the stories would be looked at. Where before, they'd be one (probably minor) joke among many, now they were the main focus. I see it as being rather like putting a spoonful of vanilla extract in a cake batter, or drinking it neat. That's the problem I have with Bill's thought that there should be another place to go for discussions with a "thread of blue" through them. If the purpose of the 'Cat were to help kids with music projects, that would be a different matter, but it's not. BTW #1) I learned the "watch joke" from my father. BTW #2) Sometimes bawdry depends on context. I've heard "Rock of Ages" sung without changes in either lyrics or melody, but loaded with double entendre. This can make decisions about where to draw the line even more difficult.
