That's true Jos, especially for children living in city environments.
But here in our village they get to see all sorts of animals and birds, both wild and domestic.
The children are outside a lot, playing in the fields and down by the river.
The two dairy farms and the riding stables hold lovely Open Days where people can watch cows being milked, get up close to big tractors, have rides on the horses and learn how to 'tack up' etc.
One can encounter swans, egrets, wild geese, wood pigeons, swallows, foxes, badgers, deer, field mice, any number of dogs and cats.
It's a veritable Noah's Ark, and infinitely better than sitting indoors watching inane cartoons on TV!
