My Aladdin Pink paraffin gallon can is a most prized possession. It doesn't have the annoying extra resonance on one particular note that can spoil everything. It's light, and to me it looks good.
I play with a sort of combined hum, grunt and blow, effectively singing the notes into the jug. The jug adds timbre and visual "appeal", but with that technique you can "play" without the jug & blow on the mic. Just don't do that to a condenser mic.
